OPEN DAY - What a fantastic day yesterdays open day was. Was so nice to meet so many of you and get to put some faces to names. Thanks also to my wonderful volunteers who worked everso hard to get it all out and keep everyone in order.
Everything went surprisingly smoothly and we have finally got rid of the left over nick knacks that hadn’t been allocated to anyone.
We still have a few items left waiting to be couriered (by the wonderful guys at PACK & SEND) to the recipients up country, and a few remaining items we still haven’t chosen a home for yet. This we will do over the next week.
NEW ENERGY – There is very definitely a new energy in and around us – I woke up feeling a mix off relief, like I had taken of a heavy old dusty coat, and sorrow like I had lost a part of me. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
One thing that is really nice is to imagine how the people who have received the items must feel wearing them. It’s a strange feeling to think you have physically made a difference in a bunch of stranger’s lives!
I think sometime when we give to a charity we lose that personal touch. The name, the face, the reaction and effect your contribution makes. That’s why we have decided to put the ‘personal’ back into helping people and experiment with what effect that has on our lives and others as we go around Australia.
EMAILING EVERYONE – A few people have been quite upset that we haven’t sent out an email yet telling everyone what is happening. This is for two reasons. First up until this weekend we still hadn’t allocated anything. And second we discovered the current email system we were using would cost over $1000 to send to that many recipients. Unfortunately we don’t have that spare, so we have had to get a new system set up which is underway as we speak.
I promise within 10 days we will have an email out to everyone letting you know exactly what’s happening with the giveaway and what else is unfolding literally day by day with the experiment.
JUST BEGINNING – Of course now we are clutter free the experiment is really just beginning.
Just because you didn’t get an item does not mean we will not be coming to your area to help YOU out.
The next stage of the adventure, which you will be able to watch live on our new site, will be going around Australia, following the flow and helping people as we go. So if your email touched us you may find us rocking up on your doorstep to help out.
SUGGESTIONS – Please keep the location suggestions, needy people suggestions and inspirational people & places suggestions coming – Send them to help@thelifechangeexperiment.com
YOUR COMPANY – Would your company like to get involved, along with Winnebago, and the other wonderful companies that have come on board our national Life Change Experiment. We are looking for people or companies that may be able to offer a few products or services to allow us to help more people on our journey. Even if you don’t think you have anything to offer give us a buzz anyway because you never know how you may be able to fit in. help@thelifechangeexperiment.com
WINNEBAGO- The wonderful guys at Winnebago Australia have generously allowed us to use one of their incredible vehicles to be able to travel and continue the Life Change Experiment. Their involvement has been an amazing example of flow in action, and we cant wait to see where this leads us next.
We got our first peek at the vehicle this weekend when they brought it around for our Open Day! Wow I wish we had known about these things years ago. It is like a home from home. Youll get to see lots more of it as we go around via our upcoming Video Blog.
Special thanks to my little niece Charli for minding BlueBelle xxxxx

This is a life changing experience for all of your young family,
in the future you can look back and say , we dreamed of an adventure and we dared to forfill that dream and Live life to the full. To gasp life in both hands and enjoy every moment of, to treat life as an adventure, what ever life present to us as humans.

Good on you!! I’m sure on your travels you will find that some of the best people – interesting, caring, helpful, down-to-earth people!. They can be found in caravan/holiday parks or camping grounds around the country.
When I’ve stayed in a hotel or at ’serviced apartments’ or the like, the neighbors never came over with a bottle of cold water & a plate of snags to see us through until we got the set-up finished. But on all of my caravan holidays I have been pleasantly surprised by the kindness of strangers.
And, on another subject, I have to tell you that I am enjoying the liberating feeling of giving ’stuff’ away. I am moving house in less than 2 weeks and have so far sorted out a huge pile of things for a local charity. Nowhere near the quantity or quality of your effort, but you guys have been an inspiration in making me think about what I really ‘need’ and what is just ’stuff’.
Keep up the good work and hope to spot you passing through ‘Bris Vegas’ in the future!!
Cheers,
Mel
Hi Bessie and Geoff,
I sent you guys an email earlier on when this had just started. I haven’t actually been back to this site until today. My life is shifting at the moment and i have no idea where i will be this time next year. I believe things happen for a reason and i think i read about you both for a reason. I admire your courage in giving away your possessions and trusting in the universe. I’m not sure about giving away all my possessions(!) but will try to trust the universe to show me the way and to trust myself in the decisions i make. Anyway, good luck on your lifes journey!!
Lisa
G’day Geoff and Bessie
Its great to read about you, I think we have lost so much in modern society today. Technology that is designed to make our livers easer I think tends to complicate our lives and contribute to the fast paced stress we tend to heap upon our selves. I am no hippy but I think we all could shed some excess clutter in our lives and try to regain what we have lost. Good luck and I will be following you with interest.
Good work, E.Van Arken

G’day to all, Just a quick line to wish to you all every good wish on your journey; wish I had the gumption to do the same but like most people,I’m too tied down to possessions, too scared to let go!I’m now at the age where it’s too late for me but I’m trying to encourage my 5 sons to enjoy life to the fullest, get out and live but I think I have burdened them with my attachment to possessions. You two are a breath of fresh air that society needs; pity we didn’t all believe in our own inate abilities and trust ourselves a little more; I think we would all be happier and society less burdened with depression and mental illness.Anyway, I hope the Universe watches over you all and the Life Energy of Earth sustains you throughout your journey; good luck, enjoy and continue to be the inspiration we all need!!!!!!! Terry
Hello Bess & Geoff,
How exciting for you both to have your first major hurdle overcome ie a Winnebago to travel and live in!!
I have always hoped that after rearing five children, I might meet someone nice and become a “grey nomad”. Met the nice guy two years ago and we’re (like you) trying to figure out how we’re going to get about when we don’t have a camper van or the money to buy one.
Still, look where you were and where you are now. One never knows what’s behind that door that opens “tomorrow”.
My angels are always with me (how else would I get a park on Saturday mornings?) and I pray that your angels stay with you on your journey and always in the times to come.
My very, very best wishes to you and your little one.
Margaret
Some of my greatest times is sharing life with a low budget with my son, family, and friends you don’t need a lot of money to have fun feeding the ducks at the gardens with a loaf of bread, sharing fish and chips at the beach after travelling on a day rover on public transport to get there. Watching the wildlife or waves smashing on the shores is great seeing the sun rise or set on the horizon is great. As long as you have each other life is great enjoy yourselves and don’t worry about things life has a funny way of solving every situation take care and keep safe. Jeannette
