peaceful-warriorLast night i watched “Way of the Peaceful Warrior”.

I have seen it maybe 10 times but every time i get a little more out of it

There is one part of the movie set at the top of a high clock tower when he is wrestling his ego (in the form of a twin), on the high clock tower. (it’s the turning point of the movie and a really intense scene)

As they hold on to each other barely teetering on the ledge, he realizes it has been this part of him that has always (upheld his status as a top gymnast, kept him competitive, protected him from fear, made him strong and popular and given him courage).
But it has also been this part that has stopped him experiencing true peace, joy, contentment and knowing his ultimate truth.

He must make a decision. Hold onto the security of who he is and who everyone knows him as, or let go with ABSOLUTLY NO IDEA what lays in wait.

As his grip slackens his ego screams in crazed desperation ‘you have no idea who you are. You are nothing without me’, right before he lets it fall to its death!

It sent a shiver up my spine as I realized we are at that point in the experiment.

If you really really really really want change, it takes more than a few self help books and some good intentions.

It takes looking at the parts of your life that are the MOST COMFORTABLE and making them uncomfortable.

WHY? Because our ‘ego’ will always hide what needs to change most in the places we want to change LEAST.

Today more than ever I understand the importance and the power of Life Change.

And like childbirth, I look forward to the pain and the rewards that await on the other side.

Maybe today you could try throwing a spanner into one of your comfot zones and see what comes out the other side J
