I Was doing an open eyed meditation this morning. Staring at the fast running water in the river outside the house we are in.
After a time i looked up at the island that sits in the middle of the river and noticed, for about 30seconds, it very distinctly moved. As if powered.
Even the trees on it looked like they were bending back. Just like you might expect if it was really moving forward.
As much as i reminded myself this was a simple optical illusion. Each time i repeated it, I couldn’t nullify the effect.
What a perfect example of why its so important to totally focus, stare and absorb yourself in things, people, habits that are moving in the direction you want to go
This ’forward motion’ you surround yourself with, conditions the brain, just like staring at the river did
Then when lifes apparently immovable speed humps arise. Rather than pulling us up to a grinding halt, our brains are preconditioned with this innate sense of forward motion.
Projecting it onto the once static problems, just like the optical illusion i saw. Stopping us getting stuck and seeing us through and out the other side.
The old proveb about, ‘the woolf you feed will always beat the one you dont’ sprang to mind and I realsied this is why.
Surrounding yourself and focusing COMPLETELY on what it is you want (or feeding that woolf) literally sets up a pattern of thoughts that continues even when the stimui stops.
What thoughts are you feeding?
PS you can try this illusion with anything that moves in one direction e.g stare at the road when its moving by then look at something stationary (not when your driving preferably)

I live in beautiful Kettering TAS on 5 acres I often loose time when outside just being. This time usually allows me to connect with my creative self.
In today’s world too many people want to control people and we studpidly allow this. In order to break this cycle I take the time to just “stare” or be and really see what I’m surrounded by.
Thankyou for being on Sunrise this morning and I look forward in following your website and additions.
