busyBusy or Boredom!

How many of us, when we are not doing what we want to be doing think, ‘Im bored’ or ‘i should really be doing something more constructive’!

Playing Peekaboo with BlueBelle for hours on end, certainly brought this to mind.

I noticed how our minds have been trained to crave stimulation, work, tv, activity, company and all the other endorphin pumping things modern society ladles on us daily.

Sitting quietly, or dealing with the mundane drives many of us insane. Especially if we have developed over years a ‘must do now’ or ‘entertain me’ mind set.

The scary truth is, boredom, or a need to constantly ‘be doing’ are a drug addictions! Literally.

Your mind craving that endorphin shot it gets from the feeling of activity

Like any drug addiction it masks a fear. Usually a fear of being silent with yourself, A fear of ‘whats really inside when the noise stops’. And like any fear we try to cover it up, with a constant drive for stimulation.

From babies we are bombarded with stimuli. Taught to achieve, succeed, compete, do, get and judge others by how they measure up to this frenetic pace.

But at what cost.. In one weekend the average person receives more information than someone 500 years ago did in a whole lifetime

For me this journey has been about learning not just to break my addiction, but to find the true power, peace and presence in the silence between the activities.

The pregnant pauses of true creativity

So thanks BlueBelle. You are certainly a wise and persistent teacher haha
