Latest research has shown that the words we use actually colour how we see the world
Whats more, inner dialogue which takes up over 80% of the words our brain generates in the day, has an equal effect.
Scary stuff when many of us consider we might be guilty of complaining or whining in our heads, more than perhaps we should.
So if you have ever wondered why things about your life suck ? maybe its because of the words you use to describe them.
I have always hated the idea of ‘affirmations’ , finding them less than sincere. But well aware that many very successful people swear by them I suspended this judgment over the course of the experiment, and put my own version into place.
Now it seems there is cold hard proof that the way we label our world, is the way we eventually believe it is.

So never underestimate the power of the words that are flying around inside your head. Even if you never speak them, every single one has its own affect on your life.
What I have started doing is catching myself thinking ‘negative’ thoughts and replacing them. Not with a false ‘pep up’ but taking the time to make a genuine positive observation about the very thing im negative about.
e.g NEGATIVE – “stupid phones just lost signal’
RETHINK – “wow how cool is this, I get to use billions of dollars of hi tec equipment every single day to chat to anyone I like. 100 years ago I would have had to travel for days. Signal loss or not im really lucky to have access to this incredible system
REMEMBER:- These are REAL TRUTHFUL observations that are just sitting there under our nose being ignored.
Find them and use them and watch life unfold in an entirely different way
TRY IT – it has made an incredible difference to my view of life

It’s strange how new research seems to discover old truths and claim them as modern discoveries. Jesus talked about the importance of belief or faith he used the word “pistos”faith or belief which also has a strong hope emphasis. The apostle St Paul talked about the importance of faith, hope and love. However it is a modern belief to see the world as positive or negative and as I reflect on this modern concept +/- I can’t help but seeing positives in negatives and negatives in positives and to question the existence of the +/- paradigm. How we think does matter and it determines how we live: thinking humbly keeps us content, thinking kindly helps us treat people right and thinking lovingly helps us be other focused. Cheers!
